The 2020 PEF Convention to be held October 18 through October 21, 2020. The safety of our members is our top priority. Given the health and safety threats of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the PEF Executive Board has voted to change the format of the convention this year to a virtual event. We are confident we will be able to provide our delegates with the tools they need to conduct the business of the union in a virtual format. While EOL will be provided for delegates to attend the virtual format, please note that PEF and divisional stipends will not be provided to elected delegates this year.
The full agenda for this year’s convention will be determined by the Executive Board at its August meeting, but for planning purposes, we want you to be aware that October 18th will be a half-day, with the remaining days (October 19-21) to be full day sessions.
CHANGES IN DELEGATE NOMINATION PROCESS:
At its June meeting, the Executive Board voted to allow self-nomination to the 2020 Convention (Link to policy is above). Delegates will self-nominate using the Delegate Candidate Interest Form, which can be found at http://www.pef.org/elections starting at 9AM on 6/29/20.
IMPORTANT DATES IN THE NOMINATION PROCESS:
- Delegate Candidate Interest Forms available at 9AM on 6/29/20
- Delegate Candidate Interest Forms due by 5PM June on 7/21/20
- Ballots mailed to contested constituencies 7/28/20
- Ballots due by 5PM on 8/18/20
- Ballot count will commence on 8/19/20
Constituency allotment will be based on the payroll file from the first pay period in March as per the rules. If the number of interested candidates does not exceed the number of delegate positions available, those candidates will be seated as delegates. In the event that a constituency has more interested candidates than seats available, ballots will be mailed out to the affected constituency. Candidate names will appear on the ballot in random order to ensure fairness for all candidates regardless on whether the candidate submitted their Delegate Candidate Interest form via mail or email.
Forms CANNOT be dropped off to PEF HQ or PEF Regional offices. They MUST either be mailed to: PEF, c/o Divisions Department, PO Box 12414, Albany, NY 12212 or emailed to gro.f1610822184ep@sn1610822184oisiv1610822184iD1610822184. If you cannot access the form online, call 800-342-4306 x337 and one will be mailed to you.
