{"id":2370,"date":"2021-04-29T14:40:11","date_gmt":"2021-04-29T18:40:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pef.org\/?p=2370"},"modified":"2021-04-29T14:40:11","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T18:40:11","slug":"pef-presents-arguments-on-key-issues-as-negotiations-resume","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pef.org\/articles\/news\/pef-presents-arguments-on-key-issues-as-negotiations-resume\/","title":{"rendered":"PEF presents arguments on key issues as negotiations resume"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The PEF contract team, joined by President Wayne Spence, met virtually with state negotiators April 27 to resume bargaining on a successor agreement after the state postponed talks for more than a year due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to get this going as expeditiously as possible,\u201d Spence said. \u201cPEF members have been without a contract long enough and it is time to get down to business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPEF presented arguments on a number of priority articles, including hazardous duty pay, across-the-board wage increases, retroactivity, telecommuting, and performance awards,\u201d added PEF Contract Team Chair Darlene Williams. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to getting into some hard bargaining with the state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Williams said both sides came to the table recognizing and respecting the hard work of PEF members during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe atmosphere in the room was one of mutual respect,\u201d Williams said. \u201cWe presented a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/537385121\">video of Governor Cuomo<\/a>\u00a0making our case for us, praising essential workers for their efforts during the pandemic. PEF members are essential workers.
