Dear NYSED-approved Infection Control course provider,<\/p>\n

In October 2017, Governor Cuomo signed into law amendments to Public Health Law \u00a7 239 and Education Law \u00a7 6505 requiring the addition of sepsis awareness and education training to the NYS-mandated Infection Control and Barrier Precautions coursework.\u00a0 Attached, please find the new Element entitled \u201cElement VII \u2013 Sepsis Awareness and Training\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0The law requires that education based on this new Element be included in your courses beginning July 1, 2018.<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has added this Element to the Health Care Provider Infection Control Training website (located here:https:\/\/www.health.ny.gov\/professionals\/diseases\/reporting\/communicable\/infection\/hcp_training.htm<\/a>).\u00a0 An updated Syllabus and supporting resources and references related to sepsis awareness and education will be added to this website soon.<\/p>\n
