Dear NYSPEF Members,
On the day the Supreme Court issues its decision in Janus v. AFSCME, join union activists in Foley Square, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., for a protest rally (or, if there’s a miracle, a celebration). On Janus Decision Day, we will show that our unions will not be cowed by attempts to destroy workers’ organized power. We will come together in the oldest and strongest form of power: collective action. We are stronger together.
On Janus Decision Day we will remind the City, State, and Nation that regardless of how Janus is decided, New York is a still a union town! The decision is likely to be announced on any Monday or Thursday of this month. The possible dates remaining are Thursday, June 21; Monday, June 25 and Thursday, June 28. But, the Court can also announce other days as well.
Currently, the rally at Foley Square is scheduled on Facebook for the next possible date that a decision could be announced, since there’s no way to know ahead of time when the decision will be announced. As soon as the decision is announced, we will update the day and time of the event so stay tuned on Facebook.
All union members, both public-sector and private, as well as all working people, including family, friends and colleagues are invited. PEF members, an unfavorable Janus decision is an attack on us all. Please join us! Please consider sharing this link on your personal social media outlets to promote attendance with your family, friends, and fellow PEF members.
