Annual Solidarity Labor Day Celebration to be Held September 4th in Colonie
For over thirty years, the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District has hosted a Labor Day Celebration for all workers who earn a paycheck. Please come celebrate labor with us on Monday, September 4, 2017, from noon to dusk at the Cook Park Pavilion in the Village of Colonie. Hamburgers and hotdogs, both meat and vegetarian as well as soft drinks will be provided. Bring a potluck dish to pass if you can. There will be awards, short speeches, a union memorabilia silent auction and live music. This year’s theme is: No Limits for Women, in recognition of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote in NYS. As always the event is free and open to everyone. Call 518-669-5299 for further information. Join us and have a great Labor Day.
The Solidarity Committee of the Capital District is a worker advocacy group that supports worker rights, environmental quality of life, civil rights, agricultural sustainability and peace. For over thirty four years we have published a monthly newsletter, the Solidarity Notes which is mailed to over 1200 Solidarity members and has a limited distribution at area businesses. Back issues can be accessed at our Solidarity Committee if the Capital District Facebook page. We have no paid staff and rely on individual and organizational contributions and volunteerism.
