NYS Assembly holds a public hearing on DOT to discuss SFY 2019-2020 Budget
On December 6, 2019, the NYS Assembly held a public hearing on the Department of Transportation. Assembly Transportation Chairman Magnarelli invited PEF to provide testimony. The hearing was held to discuss the enacted State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2019-20 Budget which contains funding to support the New York State Department of Transportation $29.2 billion five-year capital plan. This plan continues the State’s investment in various modes of transportation, including State and local roads and bridges, pedestrian and bicycle facilities, and rail, aviation, and non-MTA transit systems. This hearing provided the Assembly Transportation Committee with an opportunity to assess progress on the final year of DOT’s five-year Capital Program.
On PEF’s behalf, Region 2 Coordinator and DOT Engineer, Andrew Puleo, provided both oral and written testimony. Regional Coordinator Puleo did a great job; especially when asked a question by Chairman Magnarelli concerning design-build after his testimony.
