It is with great sadness that PEF has lost a member in the devastating limousine crash that occurred in Schoharie, October 6, which killed 20 people. Amy Steenburg, who was recently married, was among the victims, along with her husband. To many PEF members, she was known as Amy King, a hard-working young woman who would have turned 30 four days after the tragic accident.
Amy was a quality care facility review specialist at the state Justice Center, and worked on weekends as a nursing supervisor at River Ridge Nursing Home. She was studying to obtain her Master’s Degree in nursing home administration. At the Justice Center, she assisted with complex investigations, aided by her nursing expertise. She then transitioned into a role as a volunteer coordinator for the Surrogate Decision Making Committee.
PEF leaders and staff extend their sincere condolences to her family, friends and co-workers in PEF Region 8, and to all who lost loved ones in this senseless tragedy.
