CONTRACT UPDATE - #30
TABLE
TALK
Agreements have now been reached in most areas. Actual contract language has
been penned. To put this in perspective, whereas the two parties started this
round of bargaining with approximately 300 issues between them the number
remaining on the table has been reduced to less than a dozen with half of these
being easily resolved.
The State has responded to the Union demands on nursing, peace officer, sunsets,
labor management, grievance matters and many other areas. These proposals are
being reviewed in the context of an overall agreement.
We are in a very late stage of bargaining and at a tipping point. A contract
which does not include comparable economic terms negotiated with the other
unions is objectively inferior and will not be accepted. While your contract
team does the work at the table with GOER, PEF President Ken Brynien has engaged
the 2nd floor (Governor's office) on issues of great import to our members. We
will continue our efforts on these multiple fronts until we achieve a contract
that is comparable to those provided other state employee unions.
We thank our members for their continued support and wish each of you a happy
and safe new year!
