SEFA campaign kicks-off September 1

PEF members are known for their generosity, and one of the things they support is the New York State Employees Federated Appeal (SEFA), as donors and SEFA campaign volunteers.
The kick-off for the campaign is September 1 and runs through December 31.
SEFA is a state-sanctioned, charitable, payroll-contribution program established under state finance laws. It distributes funds to a large variety of SEFA-supported organizations that provide a variety of health and human services, as well as preservation of cultural, historical and environmental resources in communities.
“We want to encourage donors to find one or more charities they are passionate about, and designate to that charity. This year, there is a $26 minimum per charity donation,” said Laurelee Dever, statewide SEFA director.
Your donation goes through your payroll deduction. You can donate as little as $1 from each paycheck to make a difference. SEFA lists nearly 2,000 charities, and you can find the code for your favorite charity on the SEFA website under “2018-19 Charity Search.”
SEFA is a state-employee program, not a state-agency program. You can participate by investing as little as $1 from each paycheck for a year. Campaign coordinators and volunteers have said even a modest payroll deduction can help provide vital services to care for children, protect the elderly, shelter abused women, support disaster and crises services and much more.
