PEF nurse killed in her East Flatbush home

Kyimar Thein, a PEF nurse who worked at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, was found dead on Saturday, July 21 in her Brooklyn apartment on Lenox Road near Nostrand Avenue.

Thein, 58, earned a stellar reputation as a devoted and dependable nurse, so the police were asked to do a welfare check when she did not show up for her shifts from Wednesday through Friday. The officers found her body bound, gagged, wrapped in a bedsheet and stuffed in a closet.

Her friends and coworkers described Thein as a very giving woman, generous of heart and dedicated to helping others.

PEF President Wayne Spence said, “This shocking and terrifying act has left her coworkers and PEF family with much sadness. Let us hope the person or people responsible for this senseless act of violence are quickly brought to justice.” — Deborah A. Miles
