Members celebrate Labor Day statewide
With all the challenges facing public employees in the state and across the nation, more and more union members and their families are taking part in Labor Day celebrations. In 2017, PEF members proudly came out in full force from Buffalo to Brooklyn, marching in parades, wearing their union’s T-shirts, and holding division banners and signs to vote against the state’s referendum.
Comfortable temperatures and sunny skies blanketed the state as PEF members experienced true solidarity with their union brothers and sisters.
PEF had a Labor Day presence in Buffalo, Hornell, Rochester, Syracuse, Massena, Albany, Brooklyn, New York City and Harlem. At the three downstate parades, PEF participated with a float which was seen by thousands of people who saw the union’s message to vote against the constitutional convention and it also highlighted the work of public employees. —Deborah A.
