With all the challenges facing public employees in the state and across the nation, more and more union members and their families are taking part in Labor Day celebrations. In 2017, PEF members proudly came out in full force from Buffalo to Brooklyn, marching in parades, wearing their union’s T-shirts, and holding division banners and signs to vote against the state’s referendum.

Comfortable temperatures and sunny skies blanketed the state as PEF members experienced true solidarity with their union brothers and sisters.

PEF had a Labor Day presence in Buffalo, Hornell, Rochester, Syracuse, Massena, Albany, Brooklyn, New York City and Harlem. At the three downstate parades, PEF participated with a float which was seen by thousands of people who saw the union’s message to vote against the constitutional convention and it also highlighted the work of public employees.     —Deborah A. RAISING AWARENESS FOR CON CON – PEF Division 240 members at the state Insurance Fund stand united wearing stickers on September 20. Throughout the state, all Division 240 members participated in the sticker day, to raise general membership awareness. The sad face sticker was to initiate conversation about the possible changes to the union’s protections in the event a constitutional convention is held.
