Robert Jackson brings a new voice to the state Senate
Former PEF member, Robert Jackson, has joined the ranks of the state Senate, bringing courage and integrity to make a difference for New Yorkers.
Jackson beat state Sen. Marisol Alcantara, a former member of the Independent Democratic Conference, in a closely watched Democratic primary.
He ran on a platform based on his experiences growing up in New York City and listening to his constituents.
“I want to break the log jam apart in the state Senate and fight for progressive legislation,’ Jackson said. “I have a plan for the future of NY District 31, but also to make life better for all people in this state.”
Jackson supports public education, closing loopholes in rent laws, passing the state Health Act, and reforming ethics, election and criminal justice procedures.
PEF President Wayne Spence said, “Robert Jackson’s political accomplishments, including serving in the New York City Council from 2002 to 2013, proves he is a fighter for working people and public employees. PEF applauds his efforts and strength to rise to this political scene, to help make a positive difference in our government and for our members.”
Jackson said his motivation stems from his personal integrity.
“You have to be honest with yourself, and the people you represent.”
