RAFFLE RESULTS – Glendon Griffith and Michelle Arroyo-Santos, president, and vice president respectively, of the PEF Caribbean-American Committee present the winners of a raffle drawing with a basket that contained an Amazon Echo Dot and Fire Stick. The winner from PEF Region 10 is Joanne Miller, an associate vocational rehabilitation counselor at the State Education Department. The Region 8 winner is Tami Berdi, an associate health care fiscal analyst at the state Health Department. The raffle generated nearly $500 which will be used for the Caribbean-American Committee’s scholarship gala this summer. Arroyo-Santos and Griffith expressed their thanks to PEF Region 8 Coordinator Michael Blue and former Region 10 Coordinator Ricardo Cruz for announcing the raffle at their holiday parties in December. Shown above are Griffith with Miller, and Arroyo-Santos with Berdi.

GLAZED GENEROSITY – Council Leader at Hutchings Psychiatric Center Gina Corona and her son Nicholas smile for a group photo with Paul and Sarah from Glazed and Confused. Dressed as elves, Corona and Nicholas distributed donuts to nurses and staff who worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. More than 100 donuts were donated by the owners of the Syracuse donut shop. Corona reached out to the community to supply a sweet treat, and to show her members the work they do is appreciated, especially on a holiday. She credits the PEF billboard campaign which created city-wide attention to the dedicated nurses at Hutchings for the kind response from Glazed and Confused, and also from the indoor theme park, WonderWorks, which offered free VIP admission to the staff last fall.
