PEF remembers, honors members who lost their lives on the job — PEF staff members gathered Friday, April 26, at the PEF memorial to the union’s members who were killed at the job. The group was led by PEF Secretary-Treasurer Kay Alison Wilkie and Vice President Sharon V. DeSilva in an observance of Workers Memorial Day that falls on Sunday, April 28, this year. Wilkie and DeSilva read the names of PEF’s fallen members engraved on the stone memorial located at PEF headquarters in Latham. “We honor their memory and the sacrifice of their families and friends who were left behind,” Wilkie said. Union members, Wilkie said, must never forget this tragic loss and must always work to improve safety and health on the job for all workers. “Safe jobs are every worker’s right.” Wilkie said.
