STANDING IN SOLIDARITY – PEF President Wayne Spence addresses members from the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) April 25 at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. The NYSNA Lobby Day focused on passing the “Safe Patient Ratio” bill, a goal supported by PEF. As one of the guest speakers, Spence reiterated the importance of having enough staff to provide quality patient care and that PEF would also send that message to lawmakers May 9, its Nurse Lobby Day. — Photo by Greg Amorosi

GLAD TO BE HERE – PEF Vice President Adreina Adams smiles as the PEF Region 8 Leadership Conference opens April 21 in Saratoga Springs. — Photo by Jane Briggs  WE SUPPORT YOU – PEF Region 4 Coordinator Charles McRorie stands with Juanita Perez Williams, who is running for mayor of Syracuse. McRorie said the Region 4 Political Action Committee decided to endorse Williams, a former PEF member who is now a manager at the state Labor Department. She is a former state assistant attorney general and a former lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. She was presented by the Greater Syracuse Central Labor Council with a 2016 Friend of Labor Award. Williams thanked PEF for its early endorsement and said, “Our unions are vital to ensuring good-paying jobs, safe working conditions and fair legislation …. I look forward to working with them to give a voice to all union members and all individuals working in our city.”

MEMBER ENGAGEMENT – PEF Region 8 Coordinator Michael Blue talks to PEF members at the state Office of General Services conference held in April in Albany. MEMBERS AND FRIENDS – Members of the PEF Indo-American Committee are joined by members of the PEF Caribbean-American Committee and friends for a photo at the Indo-American Committee’s reception held at PEF headquarters in late April. PEF President Wayne Spence was among those who addressed the gathering.

LOSE TO WIN – PEF’s Region 8 Women’s Program, chaired by Linda Baker, launches its healthy living weight-loss challenge. Shown are new members to the program who signed up in April. They are Stephanie Boothe, Sandra Green and Camisha Joyner, child protective service specialists at the state Office of Children and Family Services in Albany.
