UNIONS ARE STRONGER TOGETHER TEAM SPIRIT — It was the 8th year PEF and USW staff participated in the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge 3.5-mile road race at the Empire State Plaza in Albany May 17. More than 10,000 runners, walkers and volunteers from hundreds of organizations gathered in the largest annual competition in the Capital Region. Congratulations to team leaders Shawn Bobb at 26:33, and Mayra Ithier at 34:19 and team captains Kristie Furman and Tara Bentley for organizing this years staff fun event. GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITY – PEF members were a part of a Diversity Management Committee at Gowanda Correctional Facility and collected more than 375 pounds of food items from staff and inmates that were delivered to the Gowanda Area Food Pantry through Love InC. The committee sponsored the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. food drive. WE LOVE VETS – Psychologist Iris Bonilla and other PEF Region 5 members join community volunteers in May assisting veterans boarding and returning on a Twin Tiers Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to view the many monuments there that honor veterans’ service and sacrifice to the United States.
