Nominees sought for PEF Executive Board

PEF’s third-quarter special elections to fill mid-term vacancies on the PEF Executive Board begin in July.

Nominating petitions will be available from July 10 through July 31, when petitioning ends.

Nominees will be sought to fill the following 10 vacant board seats:

  • Board Seat 1, which represents members working for the state Department of Agriculture and Markets;
  • Board Seat 25, which represents members working for the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision at Auburn, Livingston, Groveland, Five Points, Willard, Elmira, and Southport correctional facilities;
  • Board Seat 174, which represents members working for the state Office of Information Technology Services in Downtown Albany (east of and including Everett Road);
  • Board Seat 195, which represents members working for the state Health Department main office — PEF Region 8 including: Menands-Riverview Center, 800 North Pearl, Glens Falls, and Saranac Lake, (PEF Division. 205C);
  • Board Seat 235, which represents PEF Region 8 members working for the state Labor Department, except those working at the Troy Atrium;
  • Board Seat 435, which represents PEF Region 8 members working for the state Office of Children and Family (PEF Division 234);
  • Board Seat 450, which represents PEF members in Regions 6-8 working for the state Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance;
  • Board Seat 460, which represents PEF members working for the state Department of State;
  • Board Seat 540, which represents members working at Narcotic and Drug Research Inc. and at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport; and
  • Board Seat 545, which represents members working in the following political subdivisions of New York state: Albany Housing Authority; Albany County Probation; and Allegany County.

Following the submission of nominating petitions, the PEF Special Elections Committee will certify candidates to fill these vacancies. If only one candidate is certified to fill a seat, that person will be seated.  If more than one candidate is certified to fill a seat, ballots will be mailed to that constituency August 21, for return by September 12 and counting September 13.

If no candidate is certified to fill a seat, then nominees will again be sought to fill it in the fourth-quarter special elections that begin in October.
