PEF’s Communication’s Department wins ILCA awards
The Communications Department staff received seven awards for work completed in 2016.
The Metro New York Labor Communications Council bestowed a first place award for best social media campaign to former Communications Coordinator Mayra Ithier for her “Lime Green Envelope – Your Vote, Your Voice Campaign.”
Editor Sherry Halbrook received a third place writing award for “Education vs. experience at issue in appeal to civil service change,” a Communicator story.
Reporter/Writer Deborah Miles received first and third place writing awards for best headlines, “Dual roles of a pistol-carrying actress,” and “Hot talks at the table, negotiations are sizzling.”
Ithier also received a third place award for the Green Envelope Campaign, which was posted on PEF’s official Facebook page, from the International Labor Communications Association (ILCA).
Miles received two ILCA writing awards, a second place for best labor history story, “Bayard Rustin, an activist driven by passion for equality,” and a Saul Miller Award (honorable mention) for a PEF contract update story headlined “Landmark contract deal awaits your vote.”
