PEF Division 226 thanks PEF staff

To the Editor:

On behalf of the steward council of Helen Hayes Hospital PEF Division 226, and as division treasurer, I would like to thank each of the PEF staff (PEF Statewide Director of Field Services Michael Farrell, Assistant Director of Organizing Daniel Carpenter, Director of Civil Service and Enforcement and Research Kevin Jones, Director of Communications Jane Briggs, associate counsel Debra Greenberg, Director of Legislation Gregory Amorosi, Divisions Coordinator Kristie Furman and field representative Ronald Greene), who attended our October 30 membership meeting and spoke with our members on various items.

Our meeting was well attended by the members, and each of these staff members speaking on various issues was very much appreciated.

Thank you, again.

Stony Brook article correction

To the Editor:

I am writing in response to the September 2017 Communicator article on page 20, “PEF Raises Painful Issues at Stony Brook University Hospital”  First let me state that the council leader for Division 225 was not contacted.

This article, while well intentioned, has some inaccuracies. There are two glaring inaccuracies in the article I want to address at this time. First we are looking to boost the Geographic Pay for all Nurses not just Nurse 2s. Secondly, Civil Service Salary Grades ARE set by the Department of Civil Service. I would also like to take this time to thank President Spence for being so instrumental in our efforts to obtain a Geographic Pay Increase. Without his leadership we would not be as far along in the process as we are.

Family thanks PEF for support

To the Editor:

Thank you, PEF, for being with us during this difficult time. Your thoughts, prayers and words of sympathy will always be remembered.

I received so many flowers from PEF (when PEF Retiree Jack Lim died, see page 15), and I don’t have all the addresses to send thank you cards to PEF Division 240, PEF Retirees and PEF Field Services. Please extend my thanks to them.
