Sharing the holiday spirit
PEF members across the state once again reflected the true meaning of the holiday season by supporting causes that help those less fortunate.
In PEF Region 3, PEF-represented dietitians at the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Office collected non-perishable food items for the Newark Food Bank. And at an upcoming holiday party with CSEA members, a 50/50 raffle will be held with the proceeds being donated to a local charity or food bank.
PEF Region 6 members started their holiday fund drive in the summer with a clam bake. They also held a 50/50 raffle at a December 1 holiday party. The two events raised more than $500 which went to the “Stuff the Bus” program, an annual toy drive created for children in the Mohawk Valley whose families have little financial means.
One thousand dollars was raised by PEF Region 8 members at their December 1 holiday party held at the Colonie Elks Club where 250 members participated in a 50/50 raffle. The money was given to the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. — Deborah A. Miles
