PEF switching to online petition forms for division elections
The PEF Divisions Committee has announced that beginning in April members who want to run in their PEF division elections may obtain the nominating petition forms online on the PEF website at www.pef.org/elections. The forms will be available as PDFs for members to print and circulate.
PEF will no longer mail a petition form to every member of a division that is conducting an election. The nominating petition forms will only be available online. The forms for a specific division will only be posted online when petitioning for that division’s elections begins, and will remain online until petitioning ends.
However, PEF will mail every member of the division a postcard alerting them when their division’s election is about to be held.
PEF has been providing online nominating petitions for statewide officer, trustee, Executive Board and delegate elections for some time.
The Divisions Committee has confirmed that the change complies with the federal Labor Management Reporting and Disclosure Act. The switch to offering the forms online is expected save the union approximately 50 percent of the cost it has been incurring to mail a paper petition to every division constituent. — Sherry Halbrook
