Jean DeBow Women In Leadership Scholarship
1. The Public Employees Federation, AFL-CIO to honor the memory of our late Vice President Jean DeBow, has created this Scholarship. It will highlight her pursuit of elevating the labor studies/relations field of our PEF women leaders.
2. Open to an active woman PEF member in a leadership role (example: steward) who is pursing an accredited Post Secondary education in the labor studies/relations realm. Applicant must include an initial proof of enrollment in such a program for this school year.
3. There will be ONE scholarship Award of $2,000, given annually at the PEF convention. The applications will be available in late Spring and due August 1st c/o of the PEF Scholarship Committee at PEF Headquarters, 1168-70 Troy-Schenectady Road, P.O. Box 12414, Albany, New York 12212-2414.
4. The applicant shall submit the application form and essay (150-word limit) on how she will utilize her labor studies/relations and this award as a PEF leader. The Scholar shall also include one reference memo from an elected PEF leader about her qualifications for this award (150-word limit).
5. The Statewide Scholarship Committee will review the applications with all reference to the applicant’s name removed. PEF encourages women pursing a labor studies/relations type degree to apply.
6. Once an applicant wins and accepts the award, they will no longer be eligible to apply for the Jean DeBow Women in Leadership Scholarship. Please follow the order of the format of the information requested.

6. What degree pursing and proposed graduation date.
7. List your participation in union activities.

9. ESSAY: How you will utilize your labor studies/relations degree and this award as
a PEF Leader.
