Thank you to those of you who have already contributed so generously to the PEF Hurricane Relief Fund.
This week, just as our brothers and sisters in Texas and Louisiana begin to put their lives back together following Hurricane Harvey’s devastation, we are now seeing the extent of the damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Irma to residents living in Florida and the Caribbean.
New York State has once again deployed emergency personnel to aid in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma and I can proudly tell you that many of the people on these relief teams are PEF members.
As New Yorkers, and as members of the Public Employees Federation, coming together and helping others in need is what we do best and what makes us stronger. PEF has set up a Hurricane Relief Fund to aid in the relief and recovery from these damaging storms.
I am asking you to please continue your generosity by contributing to the PEF fund. Our intention is to work with AFT, SEIU and the AFL-CIO to ensure the money we raise goes to public sector union members and their families to help them to rebuild their lives.
I know our thoughts and prayers are with the hurricane victims and the members of the brave rescue, recovery and relief teams. But prayers are not enough. Please click on the link above to donate to the PEF Hurricane Relief Fund.
Having lived through both Hurricanes Sandy and Irene, I know only too well the devastation, loss and heartache extreme weather can cause and how important relief efforts are to the recovery.
Through your continued generosity, I know we can make a difference.
The PEF Relief Fund is a registered 501(c)3 Public Charity with the IRS. As such, contributions to this fund are deductible under Section 170 of the IRS Code.
