Workplace Violence and Its Aftermath

It was intended to highlight the human impact of violence, PTSD, and the work PEF has been doing to address these serious public health problems that affect our members. The article features two PEF members and PEF Director of Health and Safety, Jonathan Rosen.

Important Health Benefit Changes

The information below is being distributed by the NYS Department of Civil Service, Employee Benefits Division’s “NYSHIP News” service.

The following materials have been sent to PEF employees and to UCS employees represented by unions other than CSEA to explain applicable benefit changes:

• NYSHIP Rate Changes – the flyer describes the NYSHIP rate changes effective December 1, 2011 for Employees represented by PEF and UCS employees represented by unions other than CSEA. The NYSHIP Rate Changes flyer includes new rates for December 1, 2011, the Special Option Transfer Deadline (December 5) and payroll deduction dates.
• Empire Plan Special Reports – these Reports describe changes affecting NYSHIP coverage that take effect October 1, 2011 and December 1, 2011. The Reports include: NYSHIP Changes, Empire Plan Flexible Formulary (UCS only) and Preventive Care Coverage chart (inserts), Federal Health Care Changes and December 1, 2011 Benefit Changes.
• NYSHIP HMO Special Report – the Report describes changes affecting NYSHIP coverage that will take effect October 1, 2011 and December 1, 2011.
