The PEF Joint Committee on
Health Benefits is authorized under Article 9.16 of the PEF/NYS Contract to review and
oversee the various health plans available to PS&T employees. The Committees
mission is to obtain the best coverage possible at an affordable price, and to ensure
members receive the benefits to which they are entitled.
GOALS:
1. Enhance the level of benefits and ensure parity with the benefits of other state
employee units.
2. Monitor health plan costs and utilization.
3. Monitor and recommend adjustments in the health care system to improve members
benefits.
4. Educate members regarding their health plan benefits and the resources available to
them.
5. Review member appeals that could not be resolved by Health Benefits staff and determine
which appeals should be pursued with management.
6. Communicate concerns to the Governor's Office Employee Relations, the Department of
Civil Service, and the carriers and vendors responsible for administering benefits.
7. Work with providers, carriers and vendors to protect the confidentiality of all
personal health benefits information. |
