The State has established a centralized number for employees to call to learn the latest updates on the status of their offices in lower Manhattan. The toll-free number is 1-866-832-9942.

As various buildings re-open for business, several agencies have offered suggestions that are sound advice for all employees returning to work. First, everyone should carry at least two forms of identification, at least one of which should be a picture ID. Second, while the office buildings may be open, many local businesses are not. Employees should bring refreshments, meals etc. with them until they know of the availability of food and groceries near the workplace.

The following is based on the recorded message at the hotline on Thursday October 4 and on information obtained from the agency website or personnel office. Employees should check back frequently for updates. At this time, all work locations north of Canal Street are open and employees should report.  From what we have learned, the offices that remain closed are those that were most damaged. We do not know when, or if, they can be reoccupied. Given the limited number of offices that remain closed, and that the status of these buildings is not likely to change from day to day, this will be the last of these updates.

 DOT

The DOT operations normally housed in the World Trade Center have been relocated to DOT's office in Long Island City.

The Agency is currently looking for new permanent space in New York City. No information on whether the employees have all been redeployed. Employees assigned to the World Trade Center should, if able, report to alternate work locations. Call 1-800-836-4657 for additional information about alternate work locations and the availability of on-site counseling services.

345 Hudson Street is open for business. Employees from 50 Park Place have been redeployed. Employees with questions should contact their supervisor or call the regional office at 1-212-621-9349. 

Employees have been redeployed to other work locations. Banking Department employees are following established plans for business recovery. Any employee with a question should call (518) 474-2393.

Employees from the 11 Park Place office have been redeployed. Employees not informed of their status should call 518-473-2146.

The staff has been redeployed. The 22 Cortlandt Street office has been heavily damaged and there is some question about whether it will be reopened. Cortlandt Street staff have been redeployed to other offices, where they should remain until further notice. Employees with questions should call 1-518-473-6938 for more information.

The Rector Street and Greenwich offices remain closed and the staff has been redeployed. Employees should visit the Department's website at http://www.nysdmv.com/ for the latest information.
