Private Sector Salary Analysis
We determined the private sector salaries for PEF titles by comparing job duties and responsibilities and educational requirements. All PEF titles used require a bachelor’s degree. Therefore, we chose the first title in the private sector title series that also required a bachelor’s degree.
By going to the following address you can choose, in the first box, the title and in the second box the location. Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo and New York City were the locations we chose. The titles we chose were: in the Engineering Group and within that the Civil Engineer II title; in the Accounting Group we chose the Accountant III and Auditing Project Lead titles; in the IT-All Group we chose the Client/Server Programmer IV; and in the Healthcare – Practitioners Group we chose the Nurse Practitioner and the Physician Assistant titles.

We included the State Police salaries by taking the total salaries of the State Police ($8,334,306,211) and dividing this by the total number of employees at the State Police (197,770) resulting in an average salary of $42,141.
