Facing New Challenges: Contemporary Ethical Considerations for Social Work Practitioners (with CEUs) 

In this interactive workshop, participants will review key ethical and legal terms, and identify and discuss ethical dilemmas in contemporary practice. Strategies for addressing and resolving situations in which ethics are compromised will also be discussed. Topics will include: technology in professional practice, ethics in supervision, self-assessment, managing dual relationships, workplace hostility, and cultural responsiveness. (6 approved Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist continuing education units)

Understanding Vicarious Trauma (with CEUs)

In this half-day workshop, participants will explore the concept of vicarious trauma and its signs and symptoms. Participants will discuss recognizing transference, countertransference, the importance of setting boundaries, how to introduce self-care practices, and how to use reflective supervision to help mitigate the impact of vicarious trauma. Children and Youth with Problem Sexual Behavior (with CEUs)

In this half-day workshop, participants will gain an understanding of and identify problem sexual behaviors as well as help differentiate between problem behaviors and healthy age-appropriate behaviors. We will explore how to address problem behaviors, treatment interventions, and how to deal with problem behaviors in the home. How Trauma Manifests in Various Client Populations (with CEUs)

In this workshop, participants will discuss trauma in general and its critical impact to provide the best care for clients. Participants will consider how trauma may manifest in specific populations, the special considerations, and additional assessment techniques that may be required. Look at how trauma manifests in victims of multiple forms of violence, youth in foster care, former inmates, and immigrants and refugees. In this interactive workshop, participants will review the “nuts and bolts” of SBIRT, evidence-based screening tools, how to conduct a brief intervention that can reduce risky substance use consumption and facilitate referrals to treatment services. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Youth Depression, Anxiety and Suicide Prevention (with CEUs)

In this workshop, participants will learn fundamental “first” and “second” wave CBT skills including: psychoeducation, mood monitoring, behavioral activation, cognitive restructuring, exposure therapy, problem solving, among others. The more recent “third wave” advances including: mindfulness therapies, cognitive processing therapy, applicable DBT skills (i.e. behavioral chain analysis & distress tolerance), evidence-based suicide risk assessment, safety planning and suicide prevention skills will be discussed. Methods to enhance youth motivation and engagement in treatment will be addressed, methods to involve parents in their child’s treatment. The training will emphasize practical skills that youth can readily use to effectively over-come depression, anxiety and self-harm urges. Reproducible therapeutic activity worksheets will be provided to help have a readily available compendium of useful structured therapeutic activities to use with your young clients.   (6 approved Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist continuing education units)

Brain-Based Therapy and Practical Neuroscience for Trauma, Developmental Trauma, Attachment and Emotion Regulation (with CEUs)

In this workshop, participants will learn the most up-to-date neuroscience research discoveries and highly effective trauma treatment techniques clinicians can begin using tomorrow. Additionally, most of these techniques will be practiced during the seminar, and participants will be provided with detailed instructions and scripts for all techniques taught, so that they may begin to incorporate these techniques into their practice immediately.
