WORKSHOP: Advanced Practice with Immigrants and Refugees in Today’s US Society (with CEUs)

This workshop will strengthen practitioners’ preparedness to work effectively with immigrant and refugees who experience trauma and multiple, complex psychosocial adjustments and disparities associated with the processes of migration and resettlement. Focus is on the multiple and complex emotional and mental adjustments associated with movement from one culture to another. Acculturation stress and its potential adverse mental health consequences will be highlighted. Current practice skills, risk and protective factors, and evidence-based theoretical approaches for assessment and intervention will be discussed. This workshop is intended for practitioners who have a foundation in working with immigrants and refugees and/or took the “Emerging Trends in Practice with Immigrants and Refugees” or similar training. (3 approved Licensed Master Social Work, Licensed Clinical Social Work, and Licensed Mental Health Counselor continuing education credits).

WORKSHOP: ADHD Across the Lifespan: Executive Functioning, the Role of Technology & Treatment Implications (with CEUs)

 This workshop will provide valuable insights into Executive Functioning deficits and their impact on cognitive functioning, behavior, and relationships. Participants will gain understanding of the effects of these deficits on the cognitive processes essential to attention, working memory, cognitive flexibility, planning, prioritizing and organizing, and behavioral and emotional regulation. The presentation will be based on the latest clinical and neuroscience research findings and the discussion will include clinical implications and strategies for intervention. (6 approved Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist continuing education units)
