Central NY: Personality Disorders: The Challenges of the Hidden Agenda (with CEUs)

This full-day skill-building workshop provides mental health professionals with an introduction to the principles, practices and applications of Motivational Interviewing. Based on the latest clinical and research findings, the presentation teaches key principles and strategies of this evidence-based, client-centered approach for working with individuals challenged by substance use and mental health

disorders, and engaging them in discussing and setting goals for positive behavioral change. Participants are provided with valuable insights and opportunities to understand and practice tools for engaging adults and teens, and for helping them commit to change, with application to a wide range of problem-focused behaviors, including substance and process addictions, medication compliance, and high risk or self-harm behaviors. (6 approved Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist continuing education units).

New York City: Promoting Change & Growth in Adults & Teens through Motivational Interviewing: An Evidence-Based Treatment Approach (with CEUs)

This full-day skill-building workshop provides mental health professionals with an introduction to the principles, practices and applications of Motivational Interviewing. Western NY: Personality Disorders: The Challenges of the Hidden Agenda (with CEUs)

In this workshop, participants will learn the essential characteristics of each of the personality disorders in DSM-5® for clinical assessment. Describe how transference and countertransference can affect clinical management and treatment outcomes. Explore the boundary traps inherent in each of the personality disorder relationships as it relates to clinical treatment. Learn tools to assess treatability and manage client’s suicidality, self-injurious behavior and violence with clinical strategies.  Evaluate the efficacy of various treatment methods for personality disorders including DBT and CBT. (7.5 approved Licensed Master Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist continuing education credits).
