PEF leaders, members and staff took time today to pay tribute to the PEF members and the thousands of people who perished in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. At the state Department of Taxation and Finance in New York City, PEF President Wayne Spence recalled the bravery of the first responders, and how the attacks did not change our resolve or who we are as a country and people.
At the memorial garden located outside of PEF headquarters in Latham, a large crowd gathered as PEF Executive Board Member Joe Donahue read the names of the PEF members who lost their lives on that horrific day.
“I am sure Americans will be meeting like this every Sept. 11 for years to come, to remember those we lost, and that duty, loyalty and self-sacrifice still have meaning and will still flourish in the hearts of people with whom we live and work with every day. I ask you to join me in celebrating the kindness of the human spirit and have faith as I do, that good will not only endure, it will prevail.”
