Remembering Our Fallen Parole Officers

In the garden behind Albany’s Legislative Office Building, dozens of officials from the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) joined parole and correction officers at a memorial service June 14 to honor those who lost their lives in the line of duty. DOCCS Deputy Commissioner Daniel Martuscello III officiated at the event and introduced PEF Division 236 Council leader Paul Rigby and PEF-represented parole officer Victor “Tony” Perez who laid a wreath in front of the monument on behalf of the union.

DOCCS Acting Commissioner Anthony Annucci told the participants there have not been any more fatalities since 2009  due to the professionalism, diligence and alertness of all of the officers who work within the state. The names of those fallen were later read at a following event held at the Albany Training Academy.tony
