PEF LEGISLATIVE VICTORY
Governor Cuomo has repealed the section of the state’s Whistleblower law that required that before reporting alleged improper activity, employees must first report the allegations to his or her supervisor. PEF contended that this provision dissuaded some employees from coming forward because in some cases the alleged wrongdoing might involve someone in the employees’ immediate chain of command. In his approval memo, the Governor agreed with PEF’s contention that employees must have the ability to report alleged wrongdoing without fear of reprisal.
I know you will join me in thanking the Director and staff of the PEF legislative office for their continued efforts to get this amended legislation signed into law.
