Governor Cuomo Vetoes Parole Parity Bill

Saying the legislation would have cost the state too much money, the Governor has vetoed the Parole Parity bill. This, despite near unanimous approval by lawmakers who agreed that parole officers, who put their own lives at risk everyday protecting the citizens of New York, should have the same benefits as state corrections officers and local law enforcement officers in the state. Passage of this legislation was the culmination of joint efforts by PEF and the hundreds of parole officers represented by PEF.
