Governor Cuomo, late Friday, vetoed the Veterans’ Buyback Bill, which would have allowed public employees who served in the military during peacetime to enhance their pensions in the same way that wartime veterans can do now. This legislation passed unanimously in the Assembly and near unanimously in the Senate. But, the Governor admonished members of the legislature in his veto message, saying signing the measure into law would have cost the state too much money.
