Amid chants of “Teachout-Wu, there for you”, New York State Democratic gubernatorial candidate Zephyr Teachout brought her “Whistleblower Tour” to Albany Thursday evening on the steps of the state Education Department building. Teachout was joined by PEF President Susan M. Kent, Secretary/Treasurer Carlos Garcia and dozens of PEF members as part of her three-day bus tour of New York State.
“The times are changing. You have to be bold. You have to get out there”, said PEF president Kent. “You have to say the status quo is not working and the leadership team that is going to be for the working people….making sure the government is working for the people is Zephyr Teachout and Tim Wu”.
Teachout spoke about her background as a Fordham law professor and her goal to rid New York of “old boy corruption”. She also criticized the Common Core standards and Governor Andrew Cuomo’s refusal to debate her. Teachout says PEF’s endorsement and many others have helped her become stronger and more focused to the job at hand.
“We are going to win in 12 days in the upset of the century,” Teachout said.
