PEF History

In 1979 the Public Employees Federation was certified as the collective bargaining agent for the members of the Professional, Scientific, and Technical unit of New York State. PEF’s first convention was held in October 1979 to adopt a constitution and elect officers, executive board members and trustees.  Currently, PEF represents 54,000 New York State workers in job titles including nurses, accountants, engineers and many more.  The current administration of PEF President Wayne Spence and Secretary-Treasurer Kevin Hintz took office on August 1, 2015.  PEF is affiliated with AFT and SEIU.
